Vista II – Small Woodwind Ensembles is an upcoming module from Vista II, featuring two mixed-instrument woodwind ensembles and bonus soloist legatos.
Estimated release is later in Q2 2026.
The library will have an extended intro period so you have time to evaluate whether it’s right for you.
There are two ensembles: high woodwinds (clarinet and flute played at the same time) and low woodwinds (bass clarinet and bassoon played at the same time). There are also two additional instruments (legato only): alto flute and english horn.
There are a lot of patches in this one. I have not finalized what will be included in the ultimate release yet.
I gave a lot of attention to faster/action-type patches.
One of my big focuses was playable trills of different speeds – from slower to fast. These are polyphonic patches and you play back and forth between different pitches.
There are phrased sustains (an earlier iteration than the brass) and different kinds of portato-type patches. Flutters as well.
There are a lot of different types of shorts as well as experimental classical marcatos.
I have playable measured tremolo patches in-progress and I’m hoping it will make it into the final release – tricky stuff.
I also recorded fugue marcatos for these.
For the two soloists (these are bonus), it’s just espressivo legato.
Most of the patches are five dynamics (there’s some variation) covering the whole general dynamic range but with emphasis on lower dynamics. Soloists are a single espressivo dynamic.
While not a traditional or fully comprehensive woodwind library, there are a few aspects worth mentioning:
